Case Study: Two Years of Sourcing Trips for a South American Business Association

A South American business association has travelled to China with PreeChina two years in a row to meet the supply chains of its members' sectors. The association is not named here.

21 → 34 travellers

Two years in a row: 21 people for nine days in March 2025, and 34 people for eleven days in 2026. Six supply chains between them, from a plant of about 10,000 square metres to a small town in the countryside.

What buyers come to China to find

The questions are the same for most buyers. Who is the original manufacturer? Where is the most stable source of supply? Who is a reliable partner? The association's members came to see these answers for themselves rather than read about them, and they came a long way to do it.

The association came back the following year with a larger group and a longer programme.

The stops range from a large plant to town clusters and from the coast to inland provinces. No company is named, and no supplier is recommended. See industry clusters for how PreeChina plans around a cluster.

The system around the factory

Most of what the groups took home was about the system around the factories, not about any one factory. The transport network and the communications network reach the countryside as well as the coast. Streets and neighbourhoods are safe to walk. The business climate is predictable, and local administrations deal with business quickly. Where these things work, production follows.

This is PreeChina's reading of the two trips. It is not a finding of the association, and it is not a promise about any purchase.

The ground side

PreeChina connected the association with these supply chains and ran the programme in China. The details of each visit were agreed with the host companies and are not published.

What this case is not

  • It does not report purchases, prices or results.
  • It does not name or recommend any company, factory or town's suppliers.
  • It is not a template. Each programme is drawn for the group's own sectors and confirmed company by company.
