Tours and Prices

PreeChina prices tours in two ways. A private tour has one per-person price that includes the guide, the hotels, the transport and the meals in the itinerary. A group tour, for students or for a business group, has a per-person ground service fee for PreeChina's work, and the hotels, meals, transport and tickets are paid for separately.

Hotels, transport, attractions and other items booked in advance are paid in advance, for the amount actually booked. The 70% balance of the fee is paid within two days after arrival.

Which one applies? Families, friends and small groups who book a trip for themselves are on the private tour price. Schools, camps, education agencies and business groups are on the group tour fee.

A worked example for a group. A group of 20 on a seven-day programme pays a ground service fee of 20 × USD 150 = USD 3,000. That amount is PreeChina's service fee only. The hotels, meals, transport and tickets come on top of it, and the priced itinerary lists each of them as a separate line.

A worked example for a private tour. The price shown for a route is the amount per person for that route. It already includes the guide, the hotels, the transport and the meals in the itinerary, so there is no second bill for them.

Not included in either system

Neither a private tour price nor a group tour fee includes:

  • International flights
  • Travel insurance
  • Personal shopping
  • Upgrades to a higher specification than the one agreed, such as a better hotel, a different class of rail seat or an extra banquet

Upgrades are priced when they are asked for, and nothing is added that has not been agreed in writing.

How hotels, meals and transport are paid on a group tour

On a group tour the hotels, meals, transport and tickets are real costs that belong to the group. The priced itinerary lists each of them as its own line, next to the ground service fee.

The group can pay these suppliers directly. Where paying a supplier in China from abroad is difficult, PreeChina coordinates the payment and can pay on the group's behalf. There is no handling fee for paying on the group's behalf. The ground service fee pays for PreeChina's work in either case.

The deposit on a group tour is 30% of the ground service fee only. Hotels, transport, attractions and other items that must be booked in advance are paid in advance, for the amount actually booked. Deposit, balance, currencies and refund terms are on the booking and payment page. For the fee table by programme length, see For Agencies for student groups and For Associations and Agents for business groups.

Private tour or independent travel?

A private tour and independent travel solve the same trip in different ways. Independent travel keeps the budget lower. A private tour takes over the planning and the risks that come with arranging a trip in China yourself.

Quick answers

What does the group ground service fee cover?

The English-speaking guide, the ground service, and PreeChina's work in planning the programme and coordinating the hotel, transport and meal arrangements. It is a service fee, not a package price.

Does a private tour price include hotels and meals?

Yes. A private tour price per person includes the English-speaking guide, the ground service and the hotels, transport and meals set out in the itinerary.

Is there a fee for paying suppliers on the group's behalf?

No. PreeChina can coordinate the payment of hotels, transport, attractions and other suppliers and can pay on the group's behalf, and it charges no handling fee for doing so.

Why are hotels, meals and transport not in the group fee?

They follow the route, the season and the standard the group chooses, so they are listed as separate lines in the priced itinerary and paid by the group. PreeChina can coordinate or make the payment.

Who guides the trips?

An English-speaking guide travels with every group from arrival to departure. Private groups also have a personal assistant. Student groups travel with their own leaders and PreeChina guides.

Can I mix the three kinds?

Yes. A school group can add a private extension for parents, and a business delegation can add a cultural day. Describe the group and PreeChina plans one programme and says which price system applies to each part.

Where do I start?

If you already know where you want to go, browse the destination finder. If you are new to China, begin with the first-time guides.

Tell PreeChina what you have in mind

Send the dates, the group size and the places or themes that interest you, and PreeChina replies with a draft plan. Nothing is booked until a priced itinerary is agreed.
