AP Chinese Trip to China

An AP Chinese trip puts the language to work in real settings: a market, a tea masterclass, a campus session, a restaurant order.

Language tasks on the road

  • Ask the price of an item in Chinese.
  • Read signs and menus.
  • Record a short conversation with a local speaker.
  • Give a short presentation in a classroom, as the 2026 group did on a university campus (see Hangzhou).

The same week and other AP courses

  • AP Art History (cross-cultural transmission along the cave temples)
  • AP World History (state capacity in the examination hall and the terracotta workshops)
  • AP Environmental Science (water and karst)

See the units page. The school's coordinator confirms each fit against the current course documents.

What it costs

Fees follow the length of the whole trip, for groups of 10 or more (10 included): USD 100 per person for trips of up to 10 days, USD 150 for 11 to 20 days, and an individual quote beyond 20 days. Hotels, meals, transport, tickets and other trip expenses are separate unless the agreed quotation says otherwise. See the cost page.

Questions and answers

Do students need a certain level of Chinese?

The tasks are set to the group's level. The school states the level in the proposal request.

Can the trip support AP courses other than Chinese?
