Why This Route
Sichuan holds about two thirds of the pandas on record at the venues that keep giant pandas on public view (454 of 673+, October 2026). Chengdu is the base for most panda trips: the city has a breeding and research base and a zoo, and three more bases lie in the province.
This route links five venues over three days. The Chengdu city guide covers the city itself, and the Sanxingdui day trip also stops at the Chengdu panda base. See the Giant pandas theme map for all 60 venues in 25 provinces.
Figures are giant pandas on record at each venue, including animals resting or kept off display, so the number on view on a given day can be lower. Venues can close for renovation and animals move between venues, so PreeChina confirms what is on view before you travel.
Itinerary
Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (成都大熊猫繁育研究基地), the main panda base in the city.
Chengdu Zoo (成都动物园), optional, if the group wants a second panda venue in the city.
