How PreeChina Charges for Group Tours in China

PreeChina is an experience-led China destination management company (DMC), not a travel agency. The journey is built around what the group wants to experience, and PreeChina earns a service fee of USD 100 per person for trips of up to 10 days and USD 150 for trips of 11 to 20 days, quoted individually beyond that, and nothing else from a trip, and every supplier cost is listed as its own line. Any savings depend on the itinerary, supplier availability, group size and confirmed rates, and are not guaranteed: see how the fee works.

From packages to personal journeys

PreeChina does not start with a package. It starts with the group: what the travellers want to experience, how fast they want to go, and what they want to spend. The itinerary and the supply chain are built around those interests, not around products with fixed partners.

From: Fixed packages

To: Personal journeys

PreeChina learns the group first, then plans the route with it.

What the group gets: A journey with its own logic, not a standard package.

From: Rushed sightseeing

To: Your preferred pace

Active, balanced or relaxed, with travel times matched to it.

What the group gets: Time spent on what the group actually cares about.

From: Predetermined dining

To: Open choice

Restaurants are recommended for taste, budget and experience, not from a fixed list of partners.

What the group gets: A wider and fuller experience of Chinese food.

From: Hidden incentives

To: Transparent fees

One service fee per person on its own line, with every supplier cost listed separately. No shopping stops are built in simply to generate commissions.

What the group gets: A clear view of what is paid for planning and what is paid to suppliers.

From: Tourist checklists

To: Deeper discovery

Food, history, markets, hiking, craft and culture designed around the group, beyond the standard circuit.

What the group gets: A China the group did not know it would like.

Where the money goes

Where the money goesThe group pays PreeChina a service fee for its planning work. The group pays suppliers their own prices, directly or through PreeChina at the same price with no handling fee. The group pays two things on separate lines: PreeChina's service fee, and the suppliers' own prices. PreeChina takes no commission from suppliers.
  • The group pays PreeChina a service fee for its work, on its own line.
  • The group pays the suppliers their own prices, directly or through PreeChina at the same price, with no handling fee.
  • PreeChina takes no commission from hotels, restaurants, venues or transport, and the trade rates it holds go to the group.
  • Vehicle hire is coordinated through partner drivers without adding a markup to the rental cost.

What the fee covers, and what it does not

The fee is USD 100 per person for trips of up to 10 days and USD 150 for 11 to 20 days, and quoted for each group in the priced itinerary. Any savings depend on the itinerary, supplier availability, group size and confirmed rates, and are not guaranteed. It covers:

  • Designing the programme together with the organiser.
  • Booking and coordinating hotels, site visits, tickets and transport inside China.
  • Arranging meals for the group.
  • Airport pickup and drop-off.
  • An English-speaking guide with the group from arrival to departure.
  • Chinese-language local coordination.

It does not cover:

  • The hotels, the meals, the transport inside China and the attraction tickets: these are supplier costs, paid at the suppliers' prices.
  • International flights.
  • Travel insurance.
  • Personal spending and shopping.
  • Upgrades to a higher specification than the one agreed, such as a better hotel, a different class of rail seat or an extra banquet.

From a brief to a priced itinerary

  1. The brief. The group size, the dates, the places or interests, and the hotel level.
  2. A draft route. PreeChina replies with a draft route, the per-person ground service fee and an estimate of the hotel, meal and transport costs.
  3. The priced itinerary. Each cost is its own line, and the fee is quoted per person. Nothing is booked until the group agrees it.
  4. The deposit. 30% of the ground service fee holds the dates. Items that must be booked in advance are paid in advance, for the amount actually booked.
  5. The balance. The remaining 70% of the fee is paid within two days after arrival in China.

The deposit, balance, currencies and refunds are on the booking and payment page.

What the priced itinerary looks like

Every line names who is paid and on what basis. The amounts are set for each group in its own itinerary.

Trade rates stay with the group

PreeChina holds trade rates with long-standing partners that individual travellers and one-off groups do not receive. The group books at those rates directly, or through PreeChina at the same price, and the savings stay in the group's budget. The cost comparison sets the savings beside the fee, with a worked example for a group of 36 over seven days.

The same terms for every group

  • A service fee of USD 100 per person for trips of up to 10 days (USD 150 for 11 to 20 days), and nothing else from the trip.
  • No commission from hotels, restaurants, venues or transport, and nothing added to their prices.
  • Every supplier cost listed as its own line in the priced itinerary, before anything is booked.
  • No handling fee for paying suppliers on the group's behalf.
  • An English-speaking guide with the group from arrival to departure.

These terms are the same for student, business and other group tours.

Groups of fewer than ten

Other group tours start at ten people. Groups of two to nine are quoted as a project: a project fee plus the actual costs, with no figure published. Send the details through the contact form.
