Why Go
A Day of Rides, or a Day With the Animals
1. The amusement park
Chimelong Paradise opened in 2006 and is split into seven themed areas, from a children's zone to a zone of inverted roller coasters. It is built for families and for visitors who plan a day around rides, and it connects by a bridge to the neighbouring water park.
The park is a large leisure resort rather than a cultural sight, and it is a practical addition for travellers with children who want a day off from temples and museums.
2. The Safari Park
The Safari Park keeps animals in large enclosures that visitors view on foot and by vehicle, with elephants, camels, tigers and other species in the pictures here. It is also known for its giant panda breeding programme, and triplet cubs born there in 2014 drew wide attention.
For visitors short on time in Guangzhou, the Safari Park is the stronger half-day case, because the animals can be seen at any season.
