One of the four sacred Buddhist mountains and the seat of Ksitigarbha. The Silla prince Kim Gyo-gak practised here in the Tang dynasty, and after his death people honoured him as an incarnation of Ksitigarbha. Several mummified bodies of monks survive on the mountain.
