Wuhan (武汉)

East Lake (武汉东湖)At 88 square kilometres, listed as the largest lake inside a Chinese city, six times the area of West Lake. A greenway of 102 km runs around it, and the cherry garden at Moshan flowers in late March. City park Open at all hours
Mulan Tianchi (木兰天池)A forest park of 13 square kilometres north of Wuhan, built around a reservoir in a gorge, with waterfalls and a glass bridge. The high point is 521 m, and the draw is summer coolness. Geopark 7:30 to 17:30

Enshi (恩施)

Enshi Grand Canyon (恩施大峡谷)A karst canyon with a slot gorge where an underground river opened the surface, and a free-standing limestone column 150 m high. Cliff walkways run much of the route, and the walking is long. Geopark 8:00 to 16:00

Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture (恩施土家族苗族自治州)

Tenglong Cave (腾龙洞)A cave mouth 72 m high and 64 m wide, with 59.8 km of passage behind it and wet and dry systems joined. The Qing river disappears underground here. Geopark 8:30 to 17:30

Shennongjia (神农架)

Shiyan (十堰)

Wudang Mountain (武当山)UNESCO CULTURALThe Daoist mountain that Wudang boxing is traced from. The gilt bronze hall on the 1,612 m summit is described as the largest bronze building surviving in China, and Nanyan hall is built out over a cliff. Mountain and forest 7:00 to 17:00

Wuhan (武汉市)

Yichang (宜昌市)

Three Gorges of the Yangtze River (长江三峡)The Yangtze gorges run 193 km from Fengjie to Yichang, and the Xiling gorge, at 76 km, is the Hubei section. The dam, ranked as the largest hydro scheme in the world, stands here. Geopark Open at all hours
